Unfortunately, the first Vega Trofeo race was cancelled due to the COVID pandemic. The ROK CUP Italy race in 7 Laghi was a good substitute.

The effort was relatively big, because we didn't have the correct driver license, customs forms and not to mention the needed ROK engines.
Thanks to the help from all sides, everything could be arranged in time.

The practice day on Saturday was hard, because we struggled with setup problems and an accident. After a spin and a crash with a driver behind us, we were thrown backwards in the tests.

On Sunday was the draw for the engines, which were provided by VORTEX for the race. Unluckily, the engine caused issues during the warm-up, as it would suddenly no longer start.

I had to stop the qualifying due to a technical defect in the 2nd lap, so I could not provide a valid lap time. Thus last starting place for the first race.

But it didn't come to that, because the engine wouldn't start a second time, even with the help of the VORTEX staff. Engine change was announced for the 2nd race and final.

Again, last starting position, so nothing to lose. This time everything went smoothly, and I was finally able to race. At the end it was possible for me to drive from the 17th to the 10th place, so in the end I still had some positive result.

I am now looking forward to the upcoming races of the Vega Trofeo.

06. June 2021 / Mirecourt (F)

Finally, the start of the racing season is here. Mirecourt is the venue. Like almost all the tracks this year, Mirecourt "Ideal Kart France", is new to me.

The free practice on Friday took place in beautiful weather and I quickly realised that the track layout suits me very well.

The official practice on Saturday was like a lottery regarding the set-up, because even 5 minutes before each run, you didn't know if it would be dry or wet. 

Also, this time there were technical problems. A loosened radiator hose and then a broken support of the water cooler shortened the possible training time considerably.

On Sunday, rain was predicted for the whole day, but fortunately it stayed dry all day.

The practice session on Saturday was uneventful, except for one small incident. After the last practice laps in the afternoon, we had found a reasonable setup for the engine and the chassis.

The weather forecast predicted a 90% chance of rain for Sunday. In the night to Sunday it rained a little, so that the track was wet in the morning. By the time of qualifying, however, it had dried up enough to start with slicks, and it remained dry until the final, when it started to rain like rain out of all the clouds.
